In celebration of the professional holiday of the library worker, 11 May, the Aprilov-Palauzov Regional Library in Gabrovo, which is part of the Bulgarian Libraris - Access Point to Information and Communication for All Programme, organizes meetings between the citizens of Gabrovo and the local and national authorities.

Galya Bankovska, a deputy from the GERB political party, will accept citizens from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. regarding matters of education and culture. Later in the course of the day the library shall be visited by the regional governor Marian Kostadinov, the chairman of the Municipal Council in Gabrovo Valeriy Vassilev, the Mayor of Gabrovo Municipality a.i. eng. Kalinka Peneva and the deputy mayor Nikolay Sirakov. The Culture Board with the Gabrovo Municipal Council is invited to hold its meeting in the library.

A Public Council with the library shall be founded as well. The Public Council will assist the management of the Aprilov-Palauzov Regional Library in its work in accordance with the requirements of the Public Libraries Act which was passed in 2009. The Public Council shall serve as a forum for presentation of opinions and advice by public figures which support the activities of the Aprilov-Palauzov Regional Library in Gabrovo.

The days from 11 to 21 May were announced as Open Days in the Aprilov-Palauzov Regional Library. In celebration of the professional holiday of librarians, on 11 May the library will subscribe new readers free of charge, and will provide free access to reading rooms and to the Internet centre. The usage of thematic, factual and bibliographic information will also be free. No sanction shall be imposed on delayed returns of lended library materials, if they are returned on 11 May.

In celebration of 11 May and within the National Library Week from 17 to 21 May 2010 an exhibition titled "Gabrovo and Its People" and dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Gabrovo's promulgation as a city, and a guest exhibition of regional studies books in the Pingvinite bookstore are also envisaged.
