Millennium Development Goals Report for Bulgaria 2008
The Millennium Development Goals – 2008 is the second report Bulgaria has produced to honor the country’s commitment as a signatory of the Millennium Declaration, whereby all UN member states pledged to make global efforts until 2015 to reduce poverty, respect human rights, promote peace, strengthen democracy, and ensure environmental sustainability.
In addition, Bulgaria offers this report as a new donor of development assistance who can share with other regions of the world a wealth of experience the country has gained during the transition to market economy and democratic institutions. Now Bulgaria is willing to contribute even more actively to the achievement of the global development agenda.
Bulgaria has grounds for optimism in push for the Development Millenium Goals.
Millennium Development Goals Report for Bulgaria 2003
The first national report on the achievement of MDGs in Bulgaria was published in 2003. The report is an outcome of a consultative process of wide range of stakeholders from government, parliament, administration of the President, civil society, media and UN who come together and adapted the eight goals to Bulgaria’s national development context and set specific targets and indicators for achievement by 2015. In view of the country’s membership in the European Union, these targets have been aligned to the average indicators of the EU Member States. The Report consists of 8 chapters for each goal.

Youth Report on the UN Millennium Development Goals 2005
“Eight Goals: Eight Insights. Young people’s stories on the Millennium Development Goals” is the title of the first Youth Report on MDGs. The publication is issued as a result of collaboration among UN agencies working in Bulgaria. In the report the Bulgarian children and youths express extremely varying opinions, thoughts and views regarding the MDGs achievement. Their findings are organized corresponding to as much varying human feelings and states – anger, pain, will, love, wisdom, strengths, dreams, visions. The report consists of eight chapters, one for each goal, and each chapter reflects this wide range of attitudes.
