This report focuses on what the private sector can do to include the poor in business as consumers, employees and producers. Building on UNDP’s track record of advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life, the report starts with the markets of the poor. It shows the challenges of doing business where markets suffer from a lack of information, infrastructure and institutions. The main objective of the Survey of Corporate Social Responsibility in Bulgaria is to study the extent to which the CSR practices are understood and implemented by the different groups involved in this policy. These groups include mostly the companies registered in Bulgaria, the government institutions, the media, academia and the non-governmental organisations. The other objectives of the study are to reveal the degree of engagement of the different stakeholders, to identify and outline existing CSR practices and to make recommendations about the ways in which CSR can be advanced in the country. more...
